Last year when Linden and Gloria were snooping about the area not knowing they were in modern day Schowalter territory, Linden noticed a delivery van reading "Schowalter Wines."  Linden approached Martin who was driving the van and who introduced them to Ute, his wive who could speak English and who got on her bike and led them over to the next hof to meet Berti.
This year, Ute gave us a tour of their hof including the solar electricity producing, rotating roof on top of their winery.  What an enterprising young couple!  We learned so much!

If only we knew German to be able to communicate directly with Otto!  Here with the help of Inge, Otto is telling us about Schowalter genealogy.

 Linden then produced a copy of the big fan chart that his father had done and explained our line of American Showalters.  When Linden presented this copy to Otto as a gift, Otto responded with such excitement that we all burst out laughing because it was just how "Daddy" would have responded.  Must be in the Showalter DNA.
