We arrived here not knowing if we would be able to meet with anyone as Linden and not gotten a responce to his email. This man, Ortman Dietrig (something like that), the caretaker of the history center came upstairs and opened up for us. He spoke no English but Linden managed to get a phone number for Jochim Schowalter and called him. Jochim was able to come and give us a tour of the village.

An interesting sculpture inside the entrance to the history center. |
This community was begun in 1682 by an anabaptist family by the name of Creyenbul (Kraybill) who had to flee Switzerland because of persecution. There were 5 sons in the family and for each was built a hof within the village. This was Adamshof. We were fascinated by the distinctive coloring as well as the bulging wall on the end.
