Originally built as a monastery, Haftlehof is a massive sturcture that now is shared by several owners. Part is rented out to overnight guests and conferences.
This is the archway were we entered haftelhof. Carolyn to a picture out of her room window at the fields surrounding Haftelhof. It is truly a big place out in the middle of nowhere.
Much of the wooden parts have been replace but these steps leading to the 3rd floor, where some of us stayed, looked like original 1100 wood - worn and uneven.
We stayed here 2 nights and had a nice kitchen and dining area. Ruby cooked us a lovely chicken and potatoes dinner Monday night.
The grounds were a visual feast - not too perfectly manicured but as though it all grew of it's own accord.
