Red with blue maple leaf was a blouse I wore in first grade.
Grandma was knotting this comforter on our side porch when Les and Marilyn Wadel happened to stop by. How nice to see them before the head south for the winter.

New Favorite
Oatmeal and Chocolate Bars
New favorite treat.
Simple Nut Butter Oatmeal CookiesHealthy Choices by Miriam Wengerd, p. 298
2/3 c nut butter (peanut, almond, cashew)
1/2 t salt (needed only if nut butter is unsalted)
1/2 c honey
2t vanilla
2c rolled oats
Oatmeal and Chocolate bars
Use above recipe and press batter into the bottom of a 8x8 (or bigger) pan. Bake. Sprinkle with 1 cup of dark choc chips while it's still hot. Spread melted chocolate and sprinkle w nuts! Cool and cut.
I discovered this bar method when Petra was going to leave for a sleep over in 15 minutes and I wanted her to have something non gluten to share. This combination is irresistible to me so I should make this only when there are lots of people around to help me eat the whole pan.

Gloria's off to Indiana.
5:00 am Aug 23. All Gloria's stuff packed into CRV and ready to take off. A man of his word, Linden is not having fun. Earlier, I was lamenting that I wasn't going on this trip so Linden offered to not have any fun without me.

Austin, thought of you right away when we discovered this little thread winder in my floss box. Never used it before. Grantley and I were putting together a sewing kit and wanted to wind some of that gray nylon thread onto something.
